“Hootnanny Dress Rehearsal” with Carl Burger joining The Wanderers — Bill Murlin and Carl Allen — singing Kingston Trio favorites and more at the Olga Energetic Club from  7 – 9 p.m. Admission is by donation, net proceeds donated to Orcas Island non-profits.

Cancer Support Group hears from Mark O’Neil, a 17 year Orcas resident, who will share his amazing story of a journey from cancer to life abundant, at 5:00 p.m. in the Fireside Room of Orcas Island Community Church. Free, open to all. For further information call Bogdan or Carol at 376-4198.

Planned power outage beginning at 11 p.m. The OPALCO  crew will be opening switches, which shuts off the power, to create a safe environment in which to work on the repairs. Members who live in Olga up to Youngren’s Pond will be out of power from 11 – 11:30 p.m.  The areas of Eastsound Village, North Beach, Buck Mt.  and Raccoon Point will be out of power from 11 p.m. to 5 a.m.

Triple Ripple Two-Day Festival: The 4-Miler starts Saturday, at 9 a.m. at Mountain Lake.  The 10K starts at the Environmental Learning Center at 3 p.m. also on Saturday, Oct. 13.

2012 Historic Barns Tour taking place Saturday and Sunday Tour seven historic barns on the west side of Orcas Island, with docents at each location, and a special exhibit at the Orcas Museum. This is a self-guided tour which can be done on either Saturday or Sunday, or both days. Ticket prices are $20 and OIHM members get a special prices at $15. Tickets are also available on any weekday in the OIHM office, the Orcas Island Chamber office on North Beach Road, and the Art of the Salish Sea store, just next door to The Nest and Porter Station in Eastsound.

Farm to Cafeteria Program “Open House.”   Everyone attending will have a chance to tour the garden, see what our Farm to Classroom kids are doing, and enjoy a scratch-cooked lunch prepared by our wonderful school cafeteria staff. Come to the Public School cafeteria at 11 a.m.
