2010 Annual Meeting of San Juan Islands Chapter of the Washington Native Plant Society at the Orcas Hotel. The Business meeting (and elections) will take place from 12:30-2 p.m. followed by a botanical field trip to Killabrew Lake. At 3:30 a keynote address will be delivered by Scott Atkinson, co-author of Wild Plants of the San Juans. Everyone is welcome to attend—members-to-be are particularly encouraged! Scotch Broom Clearing on Turtleback Mountain. From 1 to 4 p.m. Meet at the Turtleback North Parking Lot. Please bring water and gloves. This is a beautiful site and we are seeing real progress in eliminating broom from the meadow, thanks to staff and volunteer efforts by the San Juan County Land Bank, and the San Juan Preservation Trust.
