San Juan County Elections has updated the look of your ballot packet materials. The packets for the November election will arrive around October 22 in larger, more colorful envelopes.
Although the envelope is a different size than the old envelope, it is still small enough to require only first class postage for those voters who return their ballots by mail. Of course, it’s still free to drop your ballot into a ballot drop box.
This odd-year election brings a bounty of offices and measures to vote on. Depending on the voter’s address, voters will see races for school board directors and/or fire, park & rec, cemetery, hospital, sewer and water commissioners.
Besides these races, the ballot also offers the voters input on seven state measures, one county measure, and a Lopez Solid Waste Disposal District levy. Odd-year elections are where the voters have the greatest input into their local governmental districts.
Vote it, sign it, and send it by Election Day, Tuesday, November 5.
