From David Moseley Assistant Secretary for Washington State Ferries
After a five-month hiatus due to repairs following the failure of an electric drive motor in November, the Jumbo Class 188-car Walla Walla will return to service later today on the Bremerton/Seattle route.
WSF worked with the drive motor manufacturer to refurbish WSF’s only spare motor for Jumbo-class ferries. The refurbished motor was successfully installed and crews began extensive testing and sea trials of the Walla Walla to ready the vessel for service.
