We are excited to announce that county council candidate Rick Hughes has earned the endorsement of Washington Conservation Action for the 2024 general election for San Juan County Council, District 2!
“Rick, we are confident that your commitment to environmental justice and our shared concerns will guide you in service to the people of your community.”—Washington Conservation Action
The Washington Conservation Action group recognizes that community health and social and racial justice begins and ends with the land and waters. By centering those most impacted by climate injustice, they advance a future that equitably sustains us. They advocate for environmental action that protects and heals the environment. They care deeply for the land, air, water, and communities that sustain us and act on that commitment through education, advocacy, and political action, representation, and reform. Rick has also earned the endorsement of Washington State Commissioner of Public Lands Hilary Franz, Senator Liz Lovelett, Representatives Debra Lekanoff and Alex Ramel, Congressman Rick Larsen, Secretary of State Steve Hobbs and dozens of other state representatives. What is their criteria for endorsement?
Sandy: according to the Washington Conservation Action website:
Washington Conservation Action works to elect environmental champions across the state. For every election, we endorse candidates who we expect to be environmental champions as well as ballot measures that will protect people and nature as one.
Yes. I looked at the site and sent the same question to the organization. I am curious about how the process of endorsements from organizations work in general. I was not familiar with this organization, and clicked on the link. The site had an application for endorsements but no explanation of the selection process. Is that typical? No worries- I’m not planning on running for office…just wanting to be a well informed voter.
