Orcas Island Chamber Music Festival is still in great need of “Behind the Scenes” volunteers for the Festival. These are the critical tasks we do to make the artists’ stay welcoming, wonderful and smooth. It is often heard that it is the hospitality to these artists that makes them want to come back here year after year!
Here are the jobs that remain open:
Morning Suds Specialist: 8:30 a.m. – noon at Orcas Center costume shop; launder linens, kitchen items from previous night’s dinner ; on-the-job orientation first time volunteer fills this role.
Afternoon Suds Specialist: 2:00 p.m. – 5:30 p.m. at Orcas Center costume shop; launder linens, kitchen items from that day’s lunch for artists and crew; on-the-job orientation first time volunteer fills this role.
Suds Specialists have lots of free time to run errands or read a book. Music often wafts from the stage or from the Black Box as artists rehearse!
Lunch Bunch: Around 11 a.m. until 2:30 or 3:00 p.m. in Orcas Center kitchen. Set up, serve and clean up lunches delivered for artists. Orientation each day promptly at start time.
Elegance Engineer: Approximately 2-5:30 p.m. in the Madrona Room. Prepare tables, place settings, etc. for artists’ dinner; minimum two shifts, orientation at first shift.
Attire: nice casual.
Dinner Server: Approximately 10 p.m.-midnight, but depends on how long concert and reception run. Assist Island Gourmet Chefs serving dinner to artists and some guests, approximately 15-25 people, in the Madrona Room.
Attire: “Festival black and white” — which means all black or a combination of black and white with no prints, grays, silvers, etc. A white blouse/shirt with black slacks or skirt works well, or a white shirt with small black stripes for men. Attire for Suds Specialists is casual.
Daytime and dinner volunteers are given the opportunity to attend the Music Lovers Seminars (on a space-available basis) or the closed-rehearsal session that is a part of each Music Lovers Seminar — one opportunity for each shift worked.
All volunteers are invited to a delightful volunteer celebration on August 25, 5-7 p.m. at the home of Phyllis and Bob Henigson in Deer Harbor!
Please consider whether you might be able to help us fill these vacancies in our schedule. Please reply to Volunteer Coordinator Annette Garver, annetteinsc@gmail.com, phone 376-6737 or (cell) 864-616-9831.
