— by Minor Lile, Orcas Issues reporter —

Welcome to February. This is the second in our new Village Voices monthly series, in which we take the pulse of the people of Orcas Island. Every month we’ll be out and about asking people to share their point of view. Sometimes the questions will be serious, sometimes more light-hearted. We invite you to join in the conversation by sharing your response to the question in the comments area.

Asked at the Orcas Library on February 1, 2020

What is one of your favorite winter activities on Orcas Island?

Jim: I like to go to the library and walk around town to see what’s happening and what people are up to.

Katie: I like to watch Kinglets, the little songbird with a ruby or orange crown on their head.

Andrea: Right now it is checking out the waterfalls and rushing water after all the rain we’ve been having.

Lisa: Taking a beach walk to watch the waves and see what the latest storm has uncovered.

Kira: I love going to Doe Bay, jumping in the ocean and then going back up to the hot tubs. It’s a way of telling my body it can get cold and then be warm again.

Please feel welcome to add your favorite winter activity in the comments area.
