||| FROM ORCAS ISLAND FOOD BANK |||

We want to let you know that we’re aware of potential disruptions in federal nutrition programs—specifically the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) and the Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) program—that could temporarily affect some island residents. These programs are essential to ensuring that families, children, and seniors have reliable access to healthy food, and we’re following developments closely.

At this time, there is no immediate call to action. Our team is in active communication with partners across the county and state to better understand what the local impact might be and how we can best respond if/when a gap in benefits occurs for each recipient.

The Orcas Island Food Bank remains committed to ensuring that no one in our community goes without. As always, we’re guided by the belief that access to nutritious food is a fundamental right, not a privilege.

We’ll keep you informed as the situation becomes clearer and will reach out if specific community support is needed. In the meantime, thank you for your continued generosity, advocacy, and steady belief in a more equitable food system. Your support makes it possible for us to respond quickly and compassionately when our neighbors need it most.
