Thursday, May 11, 5:30 – 7:30 p.m., Orcas School Library

— from Emilie Gincig for Funhouse Commons —

Trillium Swanson, MA, a youth and adult counselor on Orcas, and Emily Aring, a self-development coach and parent of a 16 year-old, share a “101” on the changes which occur within the brain from ages 12 to 24. Changes which influence how our adolescents relate to themselves, their peers, and the adults closest to them.

They will discuss the facts behind common myths about adolescent development (it’s not raging hormones), and about making the most out of the new capacities and potential that are blossoming in our teens. This workshop is based in the research and writing of Dr. Dan Siegel, as well as other current science-writing on adolescent development.

This free workshop is on Thursday, May 11th: 5:30-7:30pm at the Orcas Island School Library. Please contact Emilie at emilie@thefunhouse.org or (360) 376-7177 to register.
