Wednesday, November 8, 6 -7:30 p.m., Funhouse Commons

— from Emilie Gincig for Funhouse Commons —

In September, Trillium Swanson, LMHCA, a youth and adult counselor on Orcas, shared an introduction to the tools and the science behind how parents can reduce conflict with their children through understanding of the brain-under-stress.

Your Brain on Conflict Part II: Harnessing the power of the stress-response to manage conflict with your children & adolescents is the topic for Wednesday, November 8, 6 – 7:30 p.m. We will revisit the science behind interpersonal conflict, and explore specific attitudes and tools for reducing and managing difficult moments with children and adolescents. Parents of elementary-age children and adolescents are welcome; we will highlight similarities and critical differences in approaching conflict with both age groups.

Didn’t attend the first workshop? Don’t worry. We’ll review last month’s topics, and dive into this session’s material. This workshop is based in the research and writing of Dr. Dan Siegel, as well as other current science-writing on adolescent development.

Please email emilie@thefunhouse.org with questions, or to register.
