From Kendra Starr
If you have been looking forward to hearing 2 Room School perform, now is your chance!
On Sunday, January 27, Emmanuel Episcopal Church in Eastsound welcomes 2 Room School. Drawing from a wide-ranging repertoire, the talented group of young musicians from Shaw Island, will play tunes ranging from Cole Porter to Cat Stevens.
Adriena Clifton is 14 years old and began playing guitar when she was five years old, and has been singing for as long as she can remember! She has attended Voiceworks and Fiddletunes. When she is not singing or playing music, you will find her…ummm…. singing or playing music!
Kendra Clifton is 13 years old, she has been playing mandolin for two years, and violin for four years. She also plays ukulele and guitar, as well as playing classical violin with Island Sinfonia. As a lover of cowboy boots, she is always on the lookout for more!
Leah Black is 11 years old, in the past few years she has picked up many instruments; ukulele, banjolele, tenor banjo, 5 string banjo, guitar, and percussion. She is a very determined musician, and recently when she had a broken arm, she continued to play!
Per Black is 13 years old and first started playing bass on one, now retired, bass named Betsy. He also plays guitar and ukulele. At a recent gig, he was given a 50-year old pair of cowboy boots, so that he could match the rest of the band.
The music begins at 1 pm at the Emmanuel Episcopal Parish Hall and will be followed by refreshments. Admission is by donation and proceeds will go toward funding their next CD.
