Saturday, June 16 from 11 a.m. t0 2 p.m.
From the San Juan County Land Bank
The forests of Turtleback Mountain tell a story rooted in geology, first peoples, settlement, industry, and conservation. This history will be illuminated by our guide, Carson Sprenger, a forester and restoration ecologist with many years of experience working in the San Juan Islands.
This hike is sure to broaden your appreciation of our island forests while you have fun and learn some cool forester tricks of the trade, all part of “Forest Ecology on Turtleback Mountain.”
The hike begins at 11 a.m. and ends at 2 p.m. There will be a break for lunch on the mountain. The four-mile round trip gains 800 feet in elevation.
Meet in the park at the north trailhead off Crow Valley Road. Bring Trail-appropriate footwear, water, lunch, binoculars.
