EVERTT, WA – Rep. Rick Larsen (WA-02) released the following statement after the administration announced its plans to enact tariffs on Canada, Mexico, and China this Saturday:

“The administration’s tariffs threaten local jobs and economic stability in Northwest Washington. Canada, Mexico and China are Washington’s top trading partners with 40% of the jobs in Washington state tied directly to trade.

“We know from the 2018 tariffs that food costs went up and incomes went down for the families I represent. For a president who said he wants to fight inflation, he just took the largest ‘price-increasing’ action he could. While the administration is busy making everyday essentials cost more, I will continue working to create more jobs, lower costs for working families and keep the economy moving.”
