Orcas Island Triple Ripple Trail Festival Schedule of races is as follows: 4-miler: Saturday, Oct. 2 at 9 am, Mountain Lake. The 10K Uphill Climb is Saturday afternoon at 3 pm, starting at the ELC. The Art of Chi Running Workshop will take place at the Environmental Learning Cener at the camp at 5:30 p.m.
Farmers Market at the Odd Fellows Hall from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.The fall markets will take place in the Odd Fellows Hall every Saturday in October, and November 13 and 20. Fall hours are 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Come celebrate the changing of the seasons with our talented island growers and artists, and save room for Local Goods coffee and Soulflour Bakery pizza and brownies too!
Orcas High School Homecoming Game 1 p.m. at Dahl Field against Rainier Christian.
FEAST (Farm Education And Sustainability for Teens) Dinner-Dance at Brandt’s Beach! Appetizers of Soul Flour wood-fired pizzas begin at 5:30 p.m. Followed by a delicious locally grown meal, cooked by Yuriko Bullock & Libi Geddes. Tickets are $25 each, or 2 for $40 for high school students and can be purchased at Darvill’s, Smith and Speed and the Chamber of Commerce. Dinner will be served in a beautiful warm tent, warming teas & wines will be available. AND there will be an awesome silent auction! Tripple Ripple Running Festival Continues 30K event begins at 8 a.m., at the Environmentlal Learning Center at Moran State Park.
Blessing of the Animals at 10 a.m. at Emmanuel Episcopal Parish.The service is open to all pets and their people beginning at 10 am in the parish hall. The Blessing of the Animals will conclude the service out of doors. Biscuit and Treat Fellowship will follow. Donations of pet food for the Food Bank and/or Animal Shelter will be taken. Please for the safety of all, have your pet caged or properly restrained. 376-2352.
“Stone Features on Turtleback” talk by Gary Wessen at the Orcas Senior Center, 7 p.m. Sponsored by the Orcas Historical Society.
Zedashe Ensemble – Presented at the Orcas Center in partnership with Orcas a Cappella on Center Stage. Straight from Caucasus Georgia, this group of nine performers is touring the U.S. for only the second time. Sacred polyphonic chants, secular village songs, and lively folk dances are part of their ancient culture that was largely buried during the Communist era, resurrected by Zedashe, and shared here on Orcas Island. Tickets are $25, $17 (Orcas Center members), $11 (students).
