David Densmore

David Densmore

Local Artist Showcase highlights a trio of our very own Island musicians on Saturday, November 23, at 7:30 pm on the OffCenter Stage.

You may know David Densmore as a painter at The Artworks or as a poet. You may have seen his acting at Orcas Center, playwriting at the Grange, singing with The Parking Angels, drumming in a parade or you may know him as just another guy with a chain saw and a wild look in his eye. But you may have wondered, ‘What does he do for fun?’ The answer is, “Make up songs on his ukulele.” Here is a rare chance to hear the plucking harvest.

Waldron Island singer/songwriter Alison Post’s pure vocal sound comes from her deep belief in the beauty of life. Her songs are filled with a tenderness for the world and a love that transcends boundaries.

Alison Post

Alison Post

She has performed vocally most of her life, starting out in the backseat of the family station wagon, moving through bars and basements as a teenager with an all-male rock band, maturing into a folkroots sound with sweet melodies and simple accompaniment.

More recently, Alison has performed at Folk Life and in intimate venues around the northwest. Musical influences are of critical importance to her self-expression and she happily confesses to being inspired by the likes of Joan Armatrading, Joni Mitchell, Bonnie Raitt, Van Morrison, Taj Mahal and Greg Brown among others. Alison loves to burst into song with her daughters and finds walking along the beaches and dusty roads of her island home the most direct way to access her muse.

Gregory Reboulet

Gregory Reboulet

Gregory Reboulet’s earliest musical influence was listening to his father’s heartfelt singing. As a youth he began singing in a boys’ choir. As a teen he played a euphonium in the school orchestra as well as playing guitar and singing in rock bands and a folk duo. During his college years he began touring as a singer in various rock and R&B bands. In the early ‘70s he landed the part of Caiaphas in the National Road Company’s production of Jesus Christ Superstar and toured with them in the U.S. In the mid 80’s he trained as an audio engineer then built and operated a commercial recording studio and music publishing/production company. Throughout the years of raising a family he’s relied on contracting as his secure means of making a living but has always pursued his passion for music by writing and producing in his home studio and especially with his first love: playing and singing, always singing.
