All this lovely rummage-- and more!-- will be sorted and displayed for you at Granny's Attic this Saturday.

“Lots of nice surprises for everyone” await visitors to Granny’s Attic this Saturday, says Jane Heisinger, Coordinator of the Senior Services Advisory Committee.

She and her fellow workers have been carefully sorting and pricing the treasures from island attics to put them up for sale in “Granny’s Attic” the annual fundraiser for  Senior Services. “Even with working most of the time, we don’t see all the donations,” says Heisinger.

There’s an emphasis on art this year, with a dozen of Joe Floren’s photographs,  Crow Valley Pottery, artwork crafted by Maria Papademetriou, crystal pieces, and  classic blue-and-white China pots.

There’s lots of costume jewelry, and some fishing poles, bows (for bow and arrow enthusiasts) boat equipment and sailing tackle. There’s a complete set of Rosenthal cine and a never-been-opened Mikasa dishware service for four.

The sale starts at 10 a.m. sharp, and at 2 p.m., everything in the Lundeen Room will sell for $5 per paper shopping bag. The linen, furniture, and finer items will be sold for half price.

The sale raises funds for operations and maintenance of the Senior Center county-owned building.

Serving with Heisinger on the Senior Services Advisory Board are Steven Bentley, Gwyneth Burrill, Dale Ely, Mary Greenwell, Penny Hawkes, Irene O’Neill, Hawley Roddick, Caroline Scott, Michelle Streich, Jack Titus, Magdalena Ver Hasselt, Milly Vetterlein and Judy Zimmerman.
