— from Shannon Wilbur for San Juan Public Works —

There will be no road construction on July 4 – 5, and Orcas is once again a ‘traffic light free’ island. The construction lights were packed up and removed today. The detour will remain in effect for a few more weeks.

This week, the Contractor constructed nearly 1000 feet of new road. Next week, the subgrade for the remainder of the new road will be prepared. Guardrail will be installed after the holiday weekend.

Note that speed limits on both McNallie Lane and Dolphin Bay Road have been reduced to 25 mph for added safety.

Please drive carefully and slowly. Work hours are 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday.
