To promote safety during shorter fall and winter days, the Town has launched a safety campaign for residents to “Be Seen”. The Town encourages everyone, but particularly pedestrians and cyclists, to wear visible clothing to increase their visibility to others.

Wearing bright and reflective clothing can increase drivers’ awareness of your presence and enhance reaction time for drivers.

“We want everyone to be safe when enjoying the outdoors during the darker seasons,” stated Town Administrator Denice Kulseth.

The Town has purchased reflective bands to be distributed free of charge. Reflective bands are available for pick up at Town Hall, San Juan Island Library, PeaceHealth Peace Island Medical Center, and Family Resource Center locations (main office, child care co-op, and the Recovery Café).

The Town thanks these agencies for supporting our efforts to improve safety for our community. Be seen and stay safe this fall and winter! Questions regarding this campaign should be directed to the Town Clerk at (360) 378-2810.
