Saturday, May 11, 3-6 p.m., Orcas Center
— from Carol Kulminski for Orcas Historical Museums —
This year’s fundraiser for the Orcas Island Historical Museums is Vintage Vows: An afternoon live wedding reenactment with a nod to a 1916 island wedding. The afternoon will feature the wedding of Deer Harbor residents Bill McLachlan and Edith Lehmann, and “reception” catered by Juliana Capdeville, with hosted beer & wine.
There will be something for everyone. Raffle tickets for chances to win various gift baskets, a silent auction with unique items and gift certificates from island restaurants and shops will start off the afternoon. After the wedding ceremony, performed by officiant Dan Wilk, we’ll go live as we auction off the best of the best “wedding gifts.” Everything from private dinners to loads of gravel and an African safari are up for bidding.
Vintage Vows will be held at the Orcas Center, Saturday, May 11, 3-6 p.m. Tickets are $60, $50 for museum members (and what a great time to join and get your discount!). Purchase online at www.orcasmuseums.org or call the museum office at 360-376-4849. Early bird ticket sales save you $10 if purchased before May 1.
Graciously sponsored by: Washington Federal, Tony and Nancy Ayer, Turtleback Farm Inn, Deer Harbor Community Club, Gudgell Properties, Orcas Island Realty.
The Orcas Island Historical Museum’s mission is to educate, inspire, connect and involve our community and visitors in the stewardship of our unique island history.
