The “Seniors Have Talent” show on Saturday, Nov. 7 was endearing, funny, and toe-tapping. It recalled “Old Orcas” for many in the audience.

Didier Gincig [in featured photo], the afternoon’s emcee and the Coordinator for the Hearts and Hands Volunteer program, dedicated the performance to Hi Stickney, who performed with the Senior Songbirds, and to Betty Eagan. Proceeds from the show to a sold-out crowd will benefit Hearts and Hands and the Senior Center.

The audience joined in to choruses of “Ragtime Cowboy Joe,” and Taj Mahal’s “Fishing Blues” and raised their hands on cue with Dave Roseberry’s rap song, “Places in the World” — what a memory!

The virtuoso piano player Ron Meyers played the jazzy “Take Five” and a dramatic “Phantom of the Opera Medley” with elan, and Didier reminded the audience that Ron accompanies lunches at the Senior Center, and also the upcoming monthly Tea, this Thursday at 2 at the Center.

Tony Lee reprised his 1998 role as Tevye in “Fiddler on the Roof” as he sang the lament-protest song, “If I Were a Rich Man.”

All are invited to become members of the Center to support the programs and enjoy the benefits. Call 376-2677, go to orcasseniors.org, or drop by the Senior Center Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
