Rosario Music Concert and Historical Narrative at 4 p.m. Enjoy a presentation of music and photography that walks guests through the history of the Moran family and the Rosario estate with Christopher Peacock. Highlights of the presentation include the historic Moran Photograph Collection, “Phantom of the Opera” music performed on the Mansion’s 1,972 pipe Aeolian organ with the silent film, stories of the Mansion’s most colorful residents, and Christopher’s original piano compositions played on the 1900 Steinway Grand Piano. Crow Valley Annual Garden Art Show Opening reception from 4 – 7 p.m.Come explore paintings, handmade birdhouses, tiles, and all manner of stone and cement to bring your garden to life at “The Cabin” across from the Golf Course. “The Sunshine Boys” presented by The Actors Theater of Orcas Island. Neil Simon’s comedy stars John Mazzarella and Fred Whitridge, and is directed by Doug Bechtel. Also in the production are Nick Hershenow, Gwyneth Burrill, Pat Ayers, Greg Ayers and Doug Bechtel. This play is suitable for all ages. Hands Across the Sand Event sponsored nationwide by MoveOn.org. Meet at 11 a.m. at Crescent Beach to show support for our beaches and opposition to off-shore oil drilling.

The Orcas Island Garden Tour – Orcas in Bloom, featuring six varied Orcas gardens. 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. Tickets for the tour are $20 and can be purchased at Darvill’s Bookstore, Smith and Speed Mercantile and Driftwood Nursery all in Eastsound. Indian Island Marine Health Observatory Field Research Days. Saturday 11 a.m., Sunday 11:30 a.m. Join local scientists and community volunteers at Eastsound Waterfront Park in conducting surveys of fish and intertidal animals on low tide days during the spring and summer. Wear appropriate footwear for walking to the island (wet sand, gravel, shallow water), and come on down to the beach!

Ice Cream Social at the Orcas Island Artworks and Cafe Olga are celebrating the beginning of their 30th summer season with free ice cream, lemonade, live music, and some wild new creations by Orcas artisans. Embracing the Arts” Opening Reception 4 – 5:30 pm @ the Orcas Center. If you have ever wondered how bronze sculptures are molded and then cast, or if you have had a hankering to explore the mysteries of oil painting, poetry, music or dance, your curiosity will be rewarded, when the Visual Arts Committee at Orcas Center will present a special program celebrating the heart of art, music, dance and poetry on Orcas, featuring live performances by local and guest artists.
