The Diamonds on Stage at Orcas Center. Classic Rock and Roll with Today’s Attitude!  The Diamonds are appearing as part of the Orcas Center’s 25th Anniversary Celebration Gala and  tickets for the show only have just been released and are now available both at the box office and online. Come and enjoy Rock and Roll from the 50s & early 60’s this Friday evening at 8 p.m.Tickets are $25 in honor of the 25th Anniversary celebration and may purchased on the website www.orcascenter.org or by calling or visiting the Orcas Center box office during box office hours which are Thursday, Friday and Saturday from Noon. Zip Line at YMCA Camp Orkila, 9-10:30 a.m. By appointment only. Maximum weight capacity for a single rider is 285 lbs (subject to change depending on conditions) and children must be entering 3rd grade or older to participate. Being prompt is important so please plan to arrive at camp 10 minutes prior to your scheduled time. Please enter through the main entrance on Mount Baker Road and follow signs to the designated parking areas. Call 376-2678.

Writer’s Roundtable, “Heeding Sound” with Jill McCabe Johnson from 1-3 p.m. at the Library. (Note the change from 2nd to 4th Saturday this month.)

Kids ages 1 to 101 are invited for an Edible and Useful Plant Walk around Eastsound.  Beginning at noon from the Bullocks Permaculture booth at the Orcas Island Farmers Market and ending at 1 p.m.  Participants will walk through, learn about and even sample some tasty plants that are growing in our town.  Everyone is welcome. Olga and Orcas History with Tom Welch.Another rare opportunity is here to learn some of the tid-bits, nuances and little-known facts about Olga and its surrounding areas!  At the first gathering on July 9 Tom spoke, among many things, of how and why John Willis towed a dead cow to Lopez. The Olga Strawberry Council is presenting another chance to uncover equally rare and mysterious tidbits of Orcas life and Olga history in a second informal conversational setting with our very own walking-talking Orcas historian, Tom Welch, along with other long-time residents of Olga. Everyone is invited to come, listen and share.  At the Olga Energetics Community Building in Olga from 1 to 2:30 p.m. No charge, but donations always welcomed.
