Tracing puts known contacts in quarantine for 14 days

The third confirmed positive COVID-19 test result in San Juan County was reported to San Juan County public health staff today. This result is the first confirmed positive case on Lopez Island.
As with previous positive results, public health staff have conducted contact tracing to identify close contacts of the patient and instruct them to quarantine for 14 days and monitor for symptoms. The patient is not currently hospitalized and will be isolated at home.
San Juan County Health Officer Dr. Frank James highlights the seriousness of this situation, “This illness spreads easily, and we need to do everything we can to keep it from getting established in our community. We need to assume that there are infected patients on all of the islands and we each need to do our part to minimize social contact and maximize distancing.”
Added Dr. James, “The Governor’s order limiting non-essential travel and the County Health Officer order restricting non-essential lodging are critical tools in this fight. I truly appreciate the sacrifices the islands are making.”
San Juan County health officials remind everyone that if you feel sick and have mild symptoms, stay home. If you feel you have more serious symptoms or if you are at risk for severe illness, stay home and call your health provider. Do not report to a clinic or to the hospital. Follow your doctor or health provider’s direction. If you feel the situation is urgent and life threatening, call 911.

14 day quarantine is not enough as the latest research is showing someone can be asymptomatic for as many as 45 days.
It should also be noted that dogs can carry the disease without showing symptoms and pass it on to humans.

Please get your information from credible sources to avoid alarm and possible tragic consequences.
Recent lengthy report by qualified vets described that the 19 virus originally developed in dogs and was then transferred to humans. And suggested that dogs may transfer it again.
Yes, both the CDC and World Health Organization are saying there is no proof of canine to human although an instance of the reverse human to canine transmission. This knowledge is evolving day to day and is not ‘settled science’. It is best to be cautious.

Thanks Sam, for these helpful posts. I cannot see why pets and the way they get their noses into everything and into their humans’ faces, would not naturally be a vector for potential infection.

The Express is a British tabloid on the order of the National Enquirer. It also reports that Prince Harry is furious with Meghan Markle and that Melania is close to leaving Trump. Moreover, the “story” is over a month old. It would be better to supply a more recent and credible source for such an important claim.

What efforts have our public advocates made to secure the 500 test kits to fully trace the KNOWN routes of infection.

In a declared “medically underserved area,” with twice the *most* susceptible individuals, a declared “healthcare emergency,” the ability to raise $$$hundreds of thousands instantly, access to a world of testing supplies, direct links to “world renowned” UW healthcare goliath testing apparatus..
And we cannot test the fifty known contacts of THREE KNOWN CASES.
