Solid Waste Discussion 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. at the Eastsound Fire Hall. More than 1200 households in San Juan County responded to the Solid Waste Survey conducted in late summer. Analysis of the 1200 surveys returned and discussion of the structure of the system in the future. Everyone is welcome to participate in these community forums. Participants are encouraged to review the survey report, which is on the county website. A copy of the report is also available at each of the county libraries.

Orcas Island Triple Ripple Trail Festival Schedule of races is as follows:  4-miler: Saturday, Oct. 2 at 9 am, Mountain Lake.  The 10K Uphill Climb is Saturday afternoon at 3 pm, starting at the ELC.  The Art of Chi Running Workshop will take place at the Environmental Learning Cener at the camp at 5:30 p.m.

Farmers Market at the Odd Fellows Hall from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.The fall markets will take place in the Odd Fellows Hall every Saturday in October, and November 13 and 20. Fall hours are 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Come celebrate the changing of the seasons with our talented island growers and artists, and save room for Local Goods coffee and Soulflour Bakery pizza and brownies too!

Tripple Ripple Running Festival Continues 30K event begins at 8 am, at the Environmentlal Learning Center

Zedashe Ensemble – Presented at the Orcas Center in partnership with Orcas a Cappella on Center Stage. Straight from Caucasus Georgia, this group of nine performers is touring the U.S. for only the second time. Sacred polyphonic chants, secular village songs, and lively folk dances are part of their ancient culture that was largely buried during the Communist era, resurrected by Zedashe, and shared here on Orcas Island. Tickets are $25, $17 (Orcas Center members), $11 (students).
