Seaweed Harvesting Workshop from 10 a.m. -3 p.m., taught by local seaweed expert Ryan Drum. Must register with Learner Limbach at foodmasters.orcas@gmail.com or 376-4048 –cost of the class is $30. All participants are asked to familiarize themselves with Camp Orkila’s guest policy. Some scholarships and/or trade opportunities are available upon inquiry. The class will be held at the Camp Orkila beach and participants are encouraged to meet at the North Camp Orkila parking lot no later than 10 a.m.

Ferries’ meetings — Representatives of WSF will be holding two meetings in the San Juan Islands and the proposed reservation system will be on the agenda. The first meeting will be held on the inter-island ferry and will run from 11:35 a.m. to 2 p.m. Residents of all islands would be able to attend part – or all – of this afternoon meeting.
The second meeting will be held in Friday Harbor from 5 to 7 p.m. In addition to residents of San Juan Island, the ferry schedule does make it feasible for residents of Lopez to attend and still get home that night. This is not the case for those who live on Orcas or Shaw, but the meeting will be streamed online. More meeting information is available at https://1.usa.gov/Jd58XL

Future of Moran State Park 2-4 p.m. at the Eastsound Fire Hall. State Parks and Recreation Commission (WSPRC) is holding public meetings around the state to propose financial and operational alternatives and gather ideas from the public. Friends of Moran will host a meeting to discuss whether the State Parks system should operate more like:
- an enterprise-based hospitality industry;
- a public conservation asset based mostly on grant and tax funding
- or as community non-profit entities
