“Global Warming: Separating Truth from Hype” with Dr. Cliff Mass, 5:30 p.m. at the Orcas Center Madrona Room. Mass is Professor of Atmospheric Sciences at the University Of Washington; his specialties are weather prediction, numerical modeling, the influence of topography on weather systems, the structure and evolution of weather systems, and the weather of the western U.S. A question and answer session follows. Sunday, September 2
14th annual Steve Braun Memorial Triathlon at Moran State Park. Pre-Race is 8:30 am. Race starts at 9 am. Half-mile swim in Cascade Lake, 15-mile bike ride out just past Doe Bay and back. The final leg is a 3.5 mile run around Cascade Lake. Registration is $45 Pre- Registration can be done online at www.friendsofmoran.com/sbmt by August 31st. After August 31 registration is $55. Participants can do one or two legs of the event or as a team. Those wishing to volunteer can email info@friendsofmoran.com.
