A mobile Department of Social and Health Services (DSHS)  Community Service Office will be  at the Food Bank on Madrona Street south of the Orcas Island

Ride the Zip Line at YMCA Camp Orkila !  By-appointment only to ride on our 1000-ft Community Zip days   from 1:00-4:30 p.m.If interested, you must call camp at 360.376.2678 to sign-up for a time assignment.  Please know the number of people in your party at the time of calling.  Maximum weight capacity for a single rider is 285 lbs (subject to change depending on conditions) and children must be entering 3rd grade or older to participate.  Being prompt is important so please plan to arrive at camp 10 minutes prior to your scheduled time.  Please enter through the main entrance on Mount Baker Road and follow signs to the designated parking areas.  Call 360-376-2678.

 “Nudibranchs: The Cinderella of the Salish Sea” Marine Science Lecture, first in a series at the Eastsound Fire Hall at 7 p.m. The talk is part of the SeaDoc Society and YMCA Camp Orkila’’s annual Marine Science Lecture Series.

Free Genealogy Assistance Kathi Ciskowski will be offering free assistance with learning how to use ancestry.com and other online resources to help those researching their family history. She will be available in the Library meeting room o from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m.   No registration is necessary. Pizza Night and Open Mic at Doe Bay Cafe starting at 5 p.m. $1 from each pizza sold will benefit an Orcas non-profit.

Enchanted Forest: a Cabaret of Magic and Mischief  will run at the Orcas Center OffCenter theater at 7:30 p.m. this Thursday, Friday and Saturday  this weekend and the next: October 13 -15 and 20 – 22. All tickets are $13 and may be purchased by calling 376-2281 ext 1 or visiting the Orcas Center box office during box office hours which are Thursday, Friday and Saturday from noon- 4 pm.
