Movie Night at Doe Bay Cafe Movie starts at 7:00 p.m., free popcorn at show time, half-priced bottles of wine. “Images of Experience” with Dr. Amy Brook Snider will be the next presenter in Orcas Conservatory’s Lecture/Demo Series. This one time lecture, “Images of Experience,” will be held from 7 to 8 p.m. in the Madrona Room. Amy Brook Snider is Chairperson of the Department of Art and Design at Pratt Institute in Brooklyn, New York. She will combine slides of artists’ work with her talk. The cost is $10 for the evening.

Help Restore Cayou Cove People For Puget Sound and local landowners Bob and Meg Connor are seeking the help of volunteers this month to restore habitat in the Cayou Valley Lagoon at Deer Harbor. Volunteers will install native plants, remove invasive weeds and help clean up shorelines. No experience is necessary and the work is family-friendly, with the requirement that each child under 10 be accompanied by an adult. The restoration site features installation of a stair step weir by local contractors to enable fish passage on Fish Trap Creek. Volunteers will also be able to see innovative mycoremediation techniques using locally-sourced mushrooms to help filter pollutants before they reaches the estuary. This site is located on private property.Tools will be provided to all volunteers.
