The San Juan Preservation Trust (SJPT) invites the community to two free public lectures exploring how the iconic natural landscapes that define our islands are protected.
On Thursday, November 13, join SJPT staff at the Orcas Center in Eastsound for an evening with Gabe Epperson, Senior Project Manager with the Preservation Trust. Gabe will discuss why conservation matters in the San Juan Islands, how the Preservation Trust strategically identifies lands for protection, and the partnerships and community support that make this work possible.
Then, on Friday, November 14, Director of Special Projects Kathleen Foley Lewis will lead the same conversation at the San Juan Island Grange in Friday Harbor. Kathleen has worked with the San Juan Preservation Trust for two decades, leading efforts to protect local species and major landscapes across the islands.
Both events will also highlight SJPT’s latest conservation effort, the 30-acre Mt. Ben West Preserve on San Juan Island, a project that will connect existing protected lands and create opportunities for future public trails.
Admission is free. Light snacks and beverages will be provided. More information and RSVP: www.sjpt.org/events | info@sjpt.org
