||| FROM W. A. SCHMIDT (WASAKALOBO) |||
Well, after Trump’s umpteenth betrayal of Ukraine in less than a week, I can’t imagine what a Russian asset in his position would do differently. It’s pathetic, dangerous and shameful.
It triggered this poem in me:
The Master’s Delight
By Wasakalobo
His Kremlin master hardly could
Believe his endless luck
That callous Potus ever would
Treat allies with such muck
Decades of friendships smashed and wrecked
Their added strength ignored
Abuse of power left unchecked
Delights his Kremlin Lord
Thus when this stooge takes after him,
And Trump’s well on his way
Though for Vlad’s taste with too much whim
It’s clear proof of his sway
Over this narcissistic guy
Who’d never dare to pan
Despite of thinking he’s so sly
His master’s wicked plan
To cut the U.S. down to size
And its allies as well
With deceit, force and tons of lies
No matter where they dwell
Manipulating Trump at will
Keeps him from being tough
Against his master’s will to kill
He falls for ev’ry bluff
The KGB man has in store
For clueless guys like Trump
Who does his bidding and much more
He is his perfect chump
Democracy their common prey
At home, in foreign lands
Is struggling to keep them at bay
Because they’re joining hands
Dictatorship they’ve always craved
Humanity is junk
They’re proud of acting so depraved
For power got them drunk
They may think they’re unbeatable
They conquer, and they loot
They deem their crimes repeatable
Impunity a hoot
Or so they think, but they are wrong
Since justice will be done
They both are insecure not strong
Their angst second to none
Their similarities abound
That’s why they hit it off
Because there’s so much common ground
Feeding from the same trough
Of resources not of their own
But of their nations’ wealth
Their greed, corruption are well known
Less so their mental health
Only a sick mind could conceive
Actions that aim to hurt,
That spread destruction, and bereave
Show hatred this overt
Then there’s this shared mendacity
Their love of the Big Lie
Their disdain for veracity
Convinced that they’ll get by
So far they’ve got away with much
Causing tremendous harm
Thinking they’ve got the perfect touch
Goose-stepping arm in arm
Dehumanizing language is
Another common trait
Perverse gaslighting is their biz
Their loathing won’t abate
Resentment is their driving force
Their anger is unbound
Their speech is vulgar, crude, and coarse
These parallels dumbfound
Still, Putin’s way ahead of Trump
In murder and war crimes
With savage actions aimed to stump
Decent folks at all times
Yet Trump’s indifference to them all
Casts an abysmal light
On our nation standing tall
When there is so much plight
With moral leadership on hold
Our better angels weep
It’s time to resist and be bold
And fight this kind of creep
The arc of history will bend
When good people unite
Those cruel regimes will surely end
And hence our darkest night
