||| FROM TERA ANDAYA for ORCAS ISLAND COMMUNITY FOUNDATION |||

The 2024 Spring GiveOrcas Campaign was fully funded! Every record was broken! More donors, more donations, more participation in game days – all accomplished during a much shorter campaign (GiveOrcas was dropped from 14 to 10 days this year). 957 donors and $379,000 raised for twenty six local nonprofit organizations. Such an outstanding community effort and fantastic show of support!

As a community, we rely on the nonprofit sector to provide critical social services, invaluable cultural experiences, expansive educational programs, environmental stewardship and so much more. Your support during GiveOrcas is a great way to thank those organizations that show up for Orcas day in and day out. Thank you SO MUCH for pitching in!

Thanks to the donations during GiveOrcas, the Orcas Community Resource Center (OCRC) will provide access to essential health & medical services for islanders, OPAL will construct 10 new permanently affordable homes on Kidder Way, essential repairs will happen at the Odd Fellows Hall, the West Sound Community Club, and the Healing Arts Center. Accessibility will expand at the Funhouse and American Legion. Orcas Island Children’s House can expand staffing, the Orcas Island Farmers Market will be able to sustain affordable booth fees, middle school art will blossom, critters will have access to vet services, and the list goes on!

The success of the campaign was celebrated at Emmanuel Episcopal Church with a free ice cream social for the entire community. Many nonprofits, families, local leaders and supporters joined together on a sunny afternoon to enjoy a treat. It was a time to recognize and honor the tremendous philanthropic efforts in the Orcas Island community.

Thank you, to all who contributed. Your generosity makes Orcas Island stronger and more resilient. You are carrying on the Orcas tradition of neighbors helping neighbors and, together, we are making Orcas a stronger, kinder, and more resilient community.

The Orcas Island Community Foundation was founded in 1995 to help build and strengthen our community by encouraging and supporting local philanthropic efforts, connecting people and organizations who want to make a difference to improve the quality of life on Orcas Island.
