Wonder what Facebook keeps about you? Take a look… download your history and spend a rainy day being amazed at what they have collected about you. This info is used to track, profile and sell. Most but not all of the information they track is available for you to look at.
To download: Sign into your Facebook page, open the arrow (or menu) in the upper right hand corner. Select Settings. In the fine print under the General Settings you should see Download a Copy. Click on this. They will send you an email when the download is ready. Follow the link in the email. We suggest you set up a separate folder to save the downloaded information. There are a few files to browse through, even copies of texts that you did not send through Facebook. Oh, and if you are an Android phone user, you might also find a record of all your phone calls.
Don’t think that Cambridge Analytica is the only organization that has harvested from Facebook. Be assured there are many others, and not just from Facebook. Everything connected to the internet has the potential to give up your most intimate details for sale. Oh, and, if you log out of Facebook, Google, Linkedin, and so forth, your web activity is a little less trackable.
Remember, if you have not paid for the product YOU (and your connections) are the product.
