Sara Thomsen dance troupe, Tango En Vie

A taste of Buenos Aires comes to Rose’s Café on Saturday night as Sara Thomsen and her Seattle-based dance troupe, Tango En Vie entertains Orcas Islanders with a Tango Soirée.

The evening, which sold out last year, includes dancing performance and light fare at $50 per person.

With backgrounds in ballet, jazz, ballroom, martial arts and theatre, Tango En Vie, directed and choreagraphed by Thomsen,  bring a unique flavor to the elegance of tango. Tango En Vie brings the connection and grace of tango to the stage. (www.satyatango.com)

Earlier that day and the next day, Thomsen will give lessons in tango . She has 15 years of training, starting on Orcas Island and continuing with the best tango dancers in the world, bringing a spirit of playfulness an creativity to her students. One of Sara’s former instructor’s has said, ” Sara has a great knack for addressing the whole class and the individual at the same time.”

Another student, who first took lessons from Thomsen as a 50th birthday present, said, “Sara teaches in a way which makes it both fun and easy to learn.   I believe everyone should try it.  It certainly has changed my life forever.  I dance weekly now, it’s great exercise, and I am having the time of my life!”

The classes will be held on Saturday from 5 to 6:30 p.m.  and on Sunday, July 11 from 2 to 3:30 at the Odd Fellows Hall. Cost per class is $15 per person or $25 per couple. Private lessons are  also available. Contact sara@satyatango.com 206-354-5266.
