Feeling the crunch? During these times of dwindling natural and financial resources, how do we sustain? What choices might we make individually and collectively to, literally, stay alive on this small, green planet?

These types of questions are being asked, and conceivably answered, with the first annual Orcas Sustainable Living Fair.

Do you have an idea? Is there something specific you are doing, or thinking about doing, which could enhance our ability to reduce our carbon footprint? Do you simply have questions about what you could be doing? Or do you perhaps need a bit more information before you start?

Popular solutions which come to mind might include organic gardening, food preservation techniques, or green building. It’s more than that, however.

Participants are being sought to join in exploring ways in which way we might come together and share ideas through displays, discussions, and learning opportunities. Samara Shaw hopes this is the beginning of a shift in consciousness which will spill over into ongoing community discussion about workable solutions.

The Orcas Sustainable Living Fair will be held on Saturday, May 2, from 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., alongside the Saturday Market at the Village Green. Contact Sharon Abreu about participating at 376-5773, or sharmuse@gmail.com.
