Leith Templin and Pierrette Guimond work at the Friends of the 2010 Library Fair book sale

Saturday, August 13, 10 a.m. – 4 p.m.

Sixty-nine degrees is the forecast for Saturday. It is expected to be sunny and pleasant—the ideal Pacific Northwest setting for the 55th Orcas Library Fair at the Village Green.

The festivities officially begin when the ribbon is cut to allow an eager audience to peruse and purchase the abundant treasure trove of donated books, CDs, and DVDs that are for sale. It is anticipated there will be a full selection of novels, children’s books, CDs, DVDs and mysteries, as well as poetry, business, nature, science, history, politics, cookbooks…..and many more.

In addition to the books, there is the raffle of The Library Quilt! This year’s quilt is designed by Jackie Robison and measures 81” x 100”. It is currently hanging in the Library for you to see. The tickets are $2 each or 3 for $5.

The Art Auction, hosted by Glenna Richards, is another highlight of the event. Currently, the art is on display at the Library. Place your bid!

And, of course, the Orcas’ Farmer’s Market will be on hand with their tantalizing array of fresh food, plants, arts and crafts. This Library Fair event draws booths from the far corners of Orcas as well as from off-island adding their own brand of festivity to the day.

There promises to be something for everyone. What’s your favorite part of the Library Fair? Is it The Books, or perhaps it’s The Quilt? Leave a comment and let us know!
