Birth to five years old Playgroup, with their parents/caregivers. Children’s House presents Wine Connouisseur Sarah Munson and Chef Steve Debaster from 5 – 7 pm at The New Leaf Cafe , $100 pp. An entertaining evening with two connoisseurs who will come together to deliver an evening of entertaining anecdotes, helpful (and useful!) information-and many samplings of local and regional wines, cheeses, and complementing nibbles.  But most of all, join us to share stories of why we love to gather around fresh, delicious wines, cheeses, family, and friends.  Funds raised will benefit Children’s House. Farmers Market in Eastsound Village Green 10 a.m. to 3 p.m..

Summer Solstice Parade, noon at Eastsound.”Dance Party” theme. This colorful whimsical procession once again glides and swirls its way on Main Street and up North Beach Road. Immediately following the parade, Orcas performance artists will entertain with music and dance at the Stage on the Green. Those wishing to participate should gather at the Oddfellows Hall on Haven Road at 11 a.m. Participation is limited to those on foot, bicycles, wagons, carts and people powered floats. Please no motorized vehicles, horses or commercial elements including advertisements or signage. 376-4066.

Writers Roundtable — The Art of Nature Writing –from 1 to 3 p.m. at the Library. Join fellow writers as we read then write poetry and prose inspired by nature. Expect to leave with at least two solid starts on new poetry or prose. All are welcome.

Orcas HipHop Festival from 5 p.m. to 1 a.m. at the Odd Fellows Hall. Come celebrate the hiphop culture.  This event is for all ages and will feature a BBQ, graffiti wall, and performances by Bloodshot, The Productionists, My Dad Bruce, members of 206 Zulu, The Knowgooders, Johnny Concrete, Designated Hitters, and Western Goodz.  Cost:  $8 cover charge.
