Wow, the island is abuzz! It’s wonderful to see our local businesses swirling with traffic, flowers in full bloom and feel the sunshine bouncing around.

There’s no shortage of summering to be done with plenty of interesting activities, music events, a robust farmer’s market and so much
more. It’s also truly meaningful to see some of our long time traditions return to a full swing, too (after pandemic pauses and changes)!

We’d like to take this moment to shout from the rooftops about the activities being hosted by some of our local nonprofits. SeaDoc Society has their  annual gala tomorrow, The Wine and Sea Auction. There are still a few tickets left. You can purchase tickets and learn more about their efforts here.

This year, The Orcas Island Historical Museums are hosting the 12th Annual Orcas Island Cider and Mead Festival on Saturday, July 13th on the Village Green in Eastsound. The festival will have a number of cider and mead producers, their fabulous products, and lots of raving fans. This is your chance to taste and learn about some of the best ciders and meads from the Pacific Northwest and beyond. There will be live music on the stage, and great local food (and so much more) from the Orcas Island Farmers Market right next door.

Bottles will be available for purchase to take with you for later enjoyment! Tickets can be purchased online at orcasislandciderfest.org or tickets will be available day of at the event. Proceeds from the festival will benefit the Orcas Island Historical Museums, and festival-goers will be able to visit the Museum and learn about Orcas Island’s historic orchards and fruit industry. Do check out the fresh work done on the museum building’s facade, too. It’s invigorating to see new efforts and life all around the island. You can learn more about the museum and the history of Orcas Island here.

Hope to see you around for some summer socializing in support of our nonprofits – some very fun ways to support local!

Wishing you a beautiful, peaceful weekend of warmth~
