Steve Alboucq Jazz Quartet, heard at the New Year’s Eve Ball and ohter island events in recent years, will play at the Ecotopian Restaurant on Saturday December 5th.

Featured guest artists include Willie Thomas, Martin Lund and members of the Orcas Horns. The jazz concert begins at 9:00.  There will be an $8.00 cover charge.
Alboucq’s Quartet will perform music from their latest CD, including interpretations of standards such as “Moonglow”, “On The Trail”,  and “Skylark”.  Our original compositions are inspired by bebop blues, funk, afro-cuban rhythms and straight ahead swing.

Members of the quartet include Chris Morton on Piano who has rapidly become one of Seattle’s top jazz pianists.  Alboucq says, “He performs regularly with his own trio, the Sue Bell Group, the Music Works Jazz Orchestra, and has performed with the Orcas Horns.  Drummer Matt Page is a versatile and dynamic performer who always brings something fresh to the bandstand.  He is a fit call jazz musician in Seattle and performs with the Reuel Lubag Trio,  John Pugh, Chris Morton and Jenny Vick.  On Double Bass is Nathan Parker, a wonderful accompanist and inspiring soloist who is rising to the top of the jazz bass hierarchy is the Seattle scene.

“Orcas Island’s very own jazz trumpet legend, Willie Thomas, is going to join the band for a jam session you want to miss. Martin Lund is an island treasure and I’m looking forward to sharing the stage with him again.

“The Orcas Horns are the San Juan Islands’ premier party band.  You’ve heard them at the One World Festival, the Orcas Rec fundraiser and most recently at the Oddfellows Halloween party.”
