SEATTLE – Gov. Jay Inslee has directed that the names of all Washington State Ferries be temporarily changed to honor the Seattle Mariners.
All 21 vessels in the fleet will be renamed starting Thursday, Oct. 13, after team players and personnel. The names will remain in place as long as the Mariners remain in the 2022 Postseason.
“We are so proud of our Mariners for finally breaking our playoff drought and giving our fans the excitement of postseason baseball!” Inslee said. “This honorary name change is a way to show our appreciation and for fans to feel even closer to the team by riding Motor/Vessel Juliooooooooooo, M/V Cal ‘Big Dumper’ Raleigh, M/V Mariners ‘Good Vibes Only’ and the rest. Go Mariners!”

That’s the sort of decisive leadership we need to improve our ferry system!
What Brian said – The sign of a true leader, akin to rearranging the deck chairs on the Titanic.
Further proof, Mr. Chadwell would have served our community well…given the chance.
Good PR and Marketing do not begin to solve the many problems affecting our ferry system.
Fun maybe, but no solution.
