It promises to be two magical evenings at Rosario next week when pianist Viktor Valkov and cellist Lachezar Kostov perform for the Orcas Island Chamber Music Festival’s Annual Fundraising Concert “Leaves of Gold … with a Touch of Red.” If you attended the 2013 Summer Festival, you know you’re in for a real treat. This amazing duo will light up the holiday-adorned Music Room at Rosario Resort on Thursday, December 12th at 6:00 pm and Friday, December 13th at 6:00 pm. They’ll perform the Liszt Hungarian Rhapsody that had audiences leaping to their feet, Buxton Orr’s Carmen Fantasy, Brahms Piano Trio No. 1 in B Major, works by Chopin, Debussy and others. Our favorite violist, Aloysia Friedmann, will perform alongside them during the evening.

Following the music, guests will enjoy an hors d’oeuvres buffet and wine reception in the Orcas Room of the Rosario Mansion. OICMF would like to thank Hosts and Reception Sponsors Jan and Jerry Barto, owners of Rosario Resort.

And a special thanks to Concert Sponsors Marsha and Jim Seeley, Ginni Keith and Rick Strachan, and Artist Sponsors Helen Bee and Carl de Boor, Barbara Bentley and Glenn Prestwich, and Laila Storch.

We’re adding “a touch of Red” to this holiday event – for the festive timing and in honor of Lachezar’s love of red shoes! Lachezar slipped into his red velvet shoes during the Festival receptions – and we’re sure he’ll wear them in December, too! We’d like to encourage everyone to wear a touch of red, and be part of the colorful holiday spirit!

Tickets to this fundraising event are $150. For reservations, call 360-376-6636 or email joyce@oicmf.org. All proceeds benefit Orcas Island Chamber Music Festival programming, as well as music education. OICMF is committed to providing skill-building techniques and inspiration to Orcas islanders of all ages, from preschoolers to community musicians. For those unable to attend, a wonderful way to support the Chamber Music Festival in the winter months is to be among the “guests in spirit” listed in the program, which is a 100% tax deductible donation.
