The San Juan Nature Institute will host a plankton workshop on April 27 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Lab 3 at UW Friday Harbor Labs.

Spring blooms in the ocean as well as on land. Our waters will be teeming with bizarre and beautiful forms of early life stages of marine organisms. Dr Richard Strathmann will introduce the topic and then participants have the opportunity to collect samples, prepare slides and view them under microscopes with his guidance.

Meet in Lab 3 at 10 a.m. and bring a sack lunch to enjoy on the deck or lawns of the dining hall. Register by April 24 at sjnature.org/planktonclass or by calling 378-3646. The cost is $40  per person (students $20).
