||| FROM LINDSAY JENNINGS for ORCAS ISLAND COMMUNITY FOUNDATION |||

When the world feels loud, it can be hard to quiet the noise around us, be present in the current moment, and refocus on what’s important in the long term.

To be clear, sometimes noise is necessary. Like when the Seahawks win the Super Bowl! The big game may be over, but we can still ride the momentum of “the only thing more powerful than hate is love” theme to inspire us and call strategic plays in the off-season.

As we reflect on what’s at the heart of our community this Valentine’s Day, we can see we have everything we need: passion, people, knowledge, resources, creativity, and vision.

We see this in the community programs and initiatives that continue to be built with love and are building momentum—the Pea Patch Community Campus, Local Immigrant Family Treasury (LIFT), upgrades and expansions of our local arts, library, health care, and educational campuses, and so many others. There is no lack of opportunity to reset and refocus on making a positive impact locally. If you’re not sure where to start or need some motivation, please reach out and we will help be your matchmaker.

With spring flowers already beginning to bloom, we’re gearing up for the next season. GiveOrcas Applications are due on February 26, and the campaign will run May 12 – 21.
