||| FROM CHRIS CHORD for ORCAS ISLAND HEALTH CARE DISTRICT |||
Orcas Island Health Care District is participating in the Spring 2023 GiveOrcas Campaign organized by the Orcas Island Community Foundation. For our funding request this season, we are looking for support of our new family medicine physician, Dr. Jennifer Simpson-Manske, as she begins full-time at Island Primary Care – Orcas.
To help our hard of hearing patients and improve the provider-patient communication process, we are requesting funds to purchase a voice amplification device, sometimes called a Pocket Talker. This device uses ear phones connected to a device that amplifies the clinical staff’s voice when they speak into it. Dr. Jennifer Simpson-Manske has used these in the past with her hard of hearing patients and had great success being able to communicate with them. To go hand in hand with these devices, IPC-O would like to have an audiometer/tympanometer in the clinic to do more hearing tests for and potentially catch hearing loss in its early stages.

This giving campaign runs from May 4 to May 18, and has several special giving days scattered throughout the campaign. To find out more, please visit the Spring OICF GiveOrcas landing page here.
