It was brief, it was zany and it was just what the doctor ordered to celebrate summer on Orcas.

Penny Sharp Sky led the baton twirlers, and John Clancy introduce the embracing sun to all comers. In between were dragons and dinosaurs, ladybugs and bumblebees, fairies and dogs wearing shocking pink tutus.

Islanders and visitors lined North Beach Road under the shining sun this Saturday, cloudless after days of cloud-laden skies.

Let the parties and visitors, the tourists and travelers, the kids and the old folks begin their celebrations.
