Spelling Club will meet after school from 3:15-4:30 in the school library and work through grade-specific word lists for grades 1-8, have mock bees and learn lots of words.  There is no cost to participate, and parent volunteers are always welcome.

Orcas A Cappella Singers present “A Madrigal Dinner” at Camp Orkila Lodge at 6:30 p.m. Tickets sold out.

Artsmith Salon, 7:30 p.m. at Doe Bay Resort Café .  Featured writers Jaen Black, author of Bastante and “Orcas Issues” contributor. Followed by an open mic. The salon is free to attend and the cafe will be open for dining.

Basic Food application assistance
— A representative from the Lopez Island Family Resource Center will be at the Orcas library from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Those who need assistance filling out the basic food application and processing them into DSHS are welcome.>For questions call  468-4117

Grant-writing Seminar with Nanette Pyne, 8:30-11 in the Victorian Room at the Outlook Inn.   The suggested donation to OICF is $15 for this seminar (includes printed materials) and seating is limited.  Please contact the Orcas Island Community Foundation, 376-6423, to reserve your space.

Food for Thought Orcas Island Education Foundation Benefit Dinner and “Outside the Box” auction. Tickets $60 per person. At Camp Orkila. The event starts at 6pm.  Shuttles will be provided from the Orkila parking lot to the Lodge.  Child Care is provided through Orcas Rec at the Funhouse.  Please call Orcas Rec (376-5339) to make arrangements..

Family Literacy Month Carnival at the Funhouse, 1 to 4 p.m. Sponsored by Orcas Family Connections and the Public Library.

Insect Safari will come to Doe Bay on Nov. 21 from 5 to 7 p.m.with a  reception and no host bar. Regular dinner service is from 7-9pm (Dinner space is limited, reservations recommended; phone 360-376-8059).
