Respectfully…
Missed the meeting, yet appreciate the Agenda notice, however: accessibility for the Public (what specifically is being discussed) and full transparency for constituents (decoding “insider-speak”) are both pretty important.
Please decrypt the following acronyms and ask the Consultant (“Precision Approach”) to be more, um, precise, in their communications. When using acronyms, spell them out on the first use with a parenthetical indicator ,(e.g., “They declared a War On Opaque Acronyms (WOOA)…”) then it’s fine to revert to them subsequently for convenience.
It was almost impossible to know what was planned to be discussed in advance at this particular “Airports 101 Meeting” unless one had the secret decoder ring for the acronyms.
This is public work. It should be presented absolutely clearly to the public in all communications–even, especially, in advance of the relevant meetings.
So:
O&M = ???
MOS = ???
PAPI = ??? (I know it’s Precision Approach Path Indicator/s, but most of the public does not)
ACGRP = ???
ARPA = ???
DBE = ???
PAE = ???
CATS = ???
CIP/JPC = ???
AIP = ???
NLT = ???
SCIP = ???
Thank you.
Hi there, Matt!
Thank you for your response. I, myself, am still wrapping my head around some of the “insider-speak” and can appreciate good, clear explanations. I’ll include the acronyms here, and have also posted them on the Port’s meeting material webpage, along with the presentation and audio recording.
