Grab your dancing shoes, colorful clothes and instruments, because the Orcas Island’s Annual Summer Solstice Parade, themed “Carnival of Color,” is just around the corner – on Saturday, June 20th at noon.
The Islands Solstice Parade has expanded into a clever and stimulating display of masks, costumes and dance of many island participants. There is music color, dancing, singing, and just plain fun that entertain all. Coordinators have advised that participation is limited to feet — people-powered floats, bikes, and wagons having fun and protecting the earth we live on.
The Solstice Parade starts at noon on Haven Road, crosses Main Street, then on to the Village Green. Participants should gather at Odd Fellows Hall at 11 a.m.
The size of the parade has no limits, so gather your friends and family and join an Island tradition and celebration of summer, art, and community. Following the parade — besides laughter and high spirits — will be more music, dancing on the Stage on the Green and the Farmers Market in the Village Green itself.
