This FREE workshop is for educators interested in introducing preschool and elementary students to renewable energy, electricity, engineering and design. The teacher training will begin with an overview of the science, technology and classroom applications of solar energy, and then launch into hands on activities.
Participants will have the opportunity to build a solar oven, put together solar circuits using small photovoltaic modules and build a solar car. The workshop will focus on how to introduce preschool and elementary aged students to solar energy concepts using engaging, hands-on activities.
Lunch will be provided to participants and clock hours will be available at a slight cost. Please RSVP by Monday October 7 to Tina Whitman by email, or by phone at 376-3398.
- Clock hours are available for this workshop.
- Course will be taught by a solar energy curriculum expert from the Bonneville Environmental Foundation.
- An educator kit of hands-on renewable energy education materials including solar ovens, cars, beads and paper will be available for free checkout by participating teachers for use in their classrooms!
- Pre-registration is required and space is limited to the first 15 teachers that sign up.
