Tuesday, Oct. 11, from 12 to 6 p.m. at the Food Bank

A mobile Department of Social and Health Services (DSHS)  Community Service Office will be on Orcas at the Food Bank next Tuesday, October 11, from 12 to 6 p.m.

Erin O’Dell of the Orcas Family Connections Resource Center says, “This a rare (first time ever) and important (critical for many) opportunity for people to apply for services” like:

  • Food assistance
  • Cash assistance
  • Medical assistance (insurance!)
  • Drug and Alchohol treatment services
  • Child Care Services

At this event the public can also drop off paperwork, complete an eligibility review or make changes to an existing case.

The Orcas Island Food Bank is located at 176B Madrona Street in Eastsound, just south of Orcas Island Community Church.

The website for the mobile Community Service Office is www.dshs.wa.gov/MobileOffice

O’Dell adds, “If someone can not make the Orcas time, they will also be in Friday Harbor [Wednesday, Oct. 12 from 12 to 5 p.m.] and on Lopez [Thursday, Oct.13 from 9 a.m. to noon]. If the event is successful, they hope to return every three months.”
