San Juan County’s Agricultural Resources Committee (ARC) is hosting a listening session and information sharing opportunity for farmers to discuss access to meat processing. The meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, May 13, from 12:00 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. and will be held virtually on Zoom. Register here: Meeting Registration – Zoom.
This meeting will be an opportunity for producers to discuss current challenges and opportunities in access to both USDA and custom slaughter and meat processing. The meeting will present information and updates about the status of IGFC and allow space to brainstorm ideas for localized meat processing. Both USDA and custom-processing needs will be part of the discussion.
Sarah Lemon, WSDA Local Meat Marketing & Capacity Specialist, will facilitate the discussion and be available as a resource for regulatory, regional meat processing capacity, and state-level resources.
Register to attend the meeting here.
